  • Have You Tried Healing with Nature?

The world moves fast and doesn't wait for anyone. Finding moments of peace and time to heal when life is hectic can be a challenge. When you’re faced with busy schedules and full calendars, assigning time to self-healing and growth is not easy. Thankfully, nature plays a big part in our rejuvenation and can be easily accessed. Did you know that research shows that the stress hormone, cortisol, is reduced in those who walked for 40 minutes in a forest? It’s true! Stepping outside and walking in grass can have the same effect. Time spent outdoors allows our central nervous system to slow down and we begin to heal naturally. Embracing the great outdoors can genuinely nourish our well-being, whether it be through quiet nature walks or practicing yoga under the trees. Let us see how spending time with nature can heal us from the inside out. Soaking in the sun and the fresh air What's better than starting your day by going out the door into the fresh morning air and soaking in the morning sun? The skin absorbs sunlight to produce vitamin D, which can keep you energized for the day. Our senses come alive, and stress dissolves in the presence of trees and fragrant flowers. If your morning routine is scarce on fragrant flowers, consider using eye pillows infused with calming lavender to improve your experience or essential oils. Placing a lavender filled eye pillow, over your eyes or on your forehead, while laying down under the sun enhances your relaxation and your connection to nature. Forest bathing for better health Forest bathing, also known as shinrin-yoku, makes it possible to soak in the beauty and aromas of the forest. A simple 30 min stroll in the woods can reduce stress and blood pressure. After your forest bath, pamper your skin with salt body scrubs. Your skin will be left smooth and renewed after gentle exfoliation with natural salts and oils. The added benefits of essential oils are similar to the benefits of smelling flowers in the wild. Yoga in the wild Watch the magic happen as you unfold your yoga mat in the midst of nature. Yoga is a relaxing outdoor activity that improves your physical body while also nourishing your mind and soul. Try listening to the birds and other natural sounds in the background for extra good vibes. Use yoga props, such as blocks, yoga bolsters, lavender filled eye pillows and straps, to strengthen your poses and find deeper levels of relaxation during your practice. Organic body oils for nourishment Body oils give our skin deep nourishment and are perfect for overall body care. When infused with herbs and aromatic oils, they also rejuvenate our skin and mind. Eucalyptus oil is a fantastic choice to energize your exhausted muscles and mind. Enjoy the goodness of organic body oils made from natural ingredients like almonds, calendula, and other essential oils. It is also appropriate for use as a general body moisturizer or for aromatherapy purposes. The incredible experience of connecting with nature improves our well-being on all levels. Healing is amplified when we participate in outdoor activities like yoga in the great outdoors, forest bathing, and nature walks. Choosing to spend time outdoors can significantly improve our health and lower our cortisol levels. So let us get outside, take in the scenery, and allow nature's regenerative abilities to transform our lives.

  • Staying Cool this Summer

It's hot. There's no way around the heat that we are all experiencing this summer. I admit that I'm struggling with the heat more than usual this summer. Here's what I've been doing to cope, here's our top tips to keeping both yourself and your pets cool and safe. I hope some of these methods work for your family too. 1. Water. For humans: Drink more than you think you need. While each of us have different personal requirements, typically 1-2 gallons per day is needed when the temps. are as high as they are. Add lemon, lime or cucumber slices for added refreshment. For your pets: Provide fresh, cool water throughout the day. Add some ice to their water bowls and never, ever restrict your pets water intake. 2. Shade. For humans: Here in the SW the sun can be particularly brutal. If you can't be in the shade, cover your skin with long, light layers of clothing. It may seem counterintuitive to add more clothes when you're feeling hot, but when we keep the sweat inside our clothing it acts like a cooling system. Keeping direct sun off of our skin and allowing sweat to naturally air condition under clothes lowers our body temperature. For your pets: If your pet has little to no fur, consider lightweight clothing for them. If your pet is a full on furry friend, provide them with shade to rest in and restrict their time in the sunshine. Pets can get skin related cancers just as humans can, and those pets with lighter colored fur on their noses and bellies (like our Indigo) are particularly vulnerable to the strong sun. 3. Keep human skin hydrated and refreshed with naturally cooling ingredients, like mint & eucalyptus. Applying cooling body oils to damp skin makes the biggest impact. 4. Bathing. For humans: Take temperate or cool showers and soaks. Include some cooling, menthol based essential oils or aromatic soaks to bath water for an extra refreshing experience. For your pets: Refresh them with a quick rinse of cool water. Both my dog and the late Astro kitty, love a hose shower during the summertime. 5. For you and for your *pets: Eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. You're entire body will thank you! Fruit salads and vegetable salads are fun to create, here are some of our favorite ways to make a meal worthy salad. *RESEARCH the fruits and vegetables that are safe for your particular pet to consume. Please share with us what you're doing to keep your cool through the long, hot days of Summer 2023. Cheers, Christine & Indigo

  • Are You an Herb Junkie too? I have found that herb based organic oils help optimize our health +

It's true, I am a bit infatuated with herbs and how we can use them in our daily lives. It's hard to pinpoint exactly when this all started for me. My excessive admiration for herbs, that is. I have been mixing up teas and potions for myself and for others since my teenage years. What I can tell you for sure is that herbs are the most amazing, healing plants on earth. What I've learned over the years is that there are hundreds of different herbs that help us live healthier, happier lives. To find what herbs will help you the most requires a bit of trial and experimentation. One of my all time favorites is lavender. Not surprising, I'm sure. Some of you already know that I grow lavender, among other herbs, in my Las Vegas garden, and this particular plant helped begin my Zeeta Body journey. Lavender is one of the most versatile herbs and has historically been known as the most widely used herb for inducing relaxation and sleep, reducing inflammation, repelling insects, and detoxifying. It’s also known to be gentle enough to use with infants, which is why we see so many baby products with lavender added. These properties can be summed up as calming, soothing, and above all, balancing. The most important property of lavender is to restore unbalanced states, whether of mind or body, so that healing and rest can take place. I've studied that there are over 200 medically tested uses for this amazing plant! It obviously benefits us to incorporate lavender into our daily routines as much as we can and I have a way for you to do this really easily. In addition to its fantastic healing qualities, lavender essential oil's aroma is so neutral that it’s an easy addition to many skin care blends. (For those of you who are unaware, essential oils are a concentrated oil/liquid containing the ‘essence’ of an herb.) Lavender can be found in the following products: Chill Out Body Oil - The ultimate blend to cool down body temperature and relax the body and mind. Clarity Body Oil - Assists in balancing hormones and bringing clarity of mind and body to the user. Las Vegas Lavender Body Oil - Where it all began! Made with lavender from my garden, this soothing oil will induce sleep, repel bugs, nourish skin and heal cuts and burns. Sun Kissed Body Oil - I created this blend for post sun, when our skin really needs some love! Luscious Facial Oil - The most luxurious of our facial oils, filled with floral tones and of course, lavender! This is our new version of our Floral Facial Oil Defuse Room Spray - Similar to our Chill Out blend, this combo of lavender and mint will defuse any situation. Lovely Lavender Body & Room Spray - Lovely enough to use all around you and even on your skin. Use as a toner for clean, clear facial skin! Lavender Salt Soak - Everyone deserves some time to soak in pure salts and essential oils; this one is pure lavender, ohhh yeah. Relaxing Salt Soak - An ultimate relaxing combination with our favorite, lavender, of course, and bergamot. Soak the day away! More herb info and news coming your way soon. Thanks for Keepin’ it Real with me! Cheers, Christine #herbs #healthyliving #herbjunkie #lavender #vegasyogaretreat

  • Off Strip Adventures in Las Vegas, NV

If you're looking for something to do while you're in Las Vegas that has nothing to do with bright lights, loud sounds and money, look off of The Strip! You can travel 30 minutes Southeast to Lake Las Vegas or Lake Mead for waterfront fun (which I absolutely love to do when the weather is mild). There's even guides and boat rentals available if you want to go out on the water. Or you can travel 50 minutes Northwest to the local high peaks and enjoy cool breezes, fewer people and an opportunity to be with the trees. Being outdoors is my #1 go-to when I have some time and when I need a reset. Our local mountains have just as much flair as a Vegas Showgirl, but with a slightly different feel. If you're ready to experience the Spring Mountains of Nevada, here are my recommendations. Pack a day bag, put on your sturdy walking shoes and head north to Mt. Charleston or Lee Canyon. These destinations are especially attractive during the warmer months since it will be at least 20 degrees cooler up in the mountains than it is in the valley. All of the trees provide plenty of shaded places to picnic too.If you are planning to have a picnic, get your snacks before starting the climb west on Kyle Canyon Road, as there will be few other options available after that. Lee Canyon is our local ski mountain and at the base, near the lifts, you will find all of the usual amenities of a breakfast/coffee shop and a sandwich shop with a full bar. If you're up on the mountain during the early morning hours, you're likely to see wild horses grazing their way up the mountain. We had the magical experience of seeing them daily during our most recent trip and there are some young colts in the herd. Indigo and I had the pleasure of watching the youngsters play together - from a distance of course! Please remember to stay at least 50' away from any wild animals that you encounter and never, EVER feed them. Pack out everything that you pack in, including fruit cores & peels, toilet paper and empty containers. If you’re interested in a hike, here are a few of my favorites and some details that may help you choose. Message me if you have specific questions and I’ll try my best to help. -Eagles Nest Loop via. Fletcher Canyon An easy hike through beautiful foliage with lots of different plant varieties. An abundance of butterflies and scenic views of the canyon and surrounding peaks. There’s one steep climb near the trailhead that will get your heart pumping and the rest of the trail includes moderate climbs that most will be able to accomplish. -Mary Jane Falls A one way in and out trail that climbs to several small falls (potentially no water during the late summer months). We hiked this trail one morning last week, during the middle of June, and were quite cold! There’s not much sun at the falls and the water drops the temperature significantly. -Bristlecone Pine Witness the oldest living trees on the planet, the Bristlecone Pine. You can choose to take a long walk or a short walk with the options available. We tend to start at the lower trailhead and do the upper and lower loop but plenty of people park at the upper trailhead, near Lee Canyon lifts, and hike in and out on the upper trail only. It really depends on how far you want to walk and how much of a challenge you’re ready for. There’s a lot of elevation change if you do the entire loop. Whenever I prepare for time in the mountains, I use one of our organic body oils that contain natural bug repelling essential oils, No Worries, Happy Hippy, Eucalyptus or Take a Load Off. During my most recent stay on Mt. Charleston I used the Take a Load Off Oil daily, for several reasons, but you can choose from any of the organic body oils listed above and have a positive experience. Here’s my top 3 reasons for using Take a Load Off during outdoor adventures: It keeps the bugs away from me while smelling amazing. Take a Load Off Body Oil hydrates my dry skin. This body oil helps relieve sore muscles, which was welcome with so much hiking. Even if you don’t make it out of the Vegas Valley during your stay, you will notice that your skin gets very dry when you’re in the desert. Applying herbal oils and hydrating salt scrubs to your face and body will help tremendously. Stay hydrated, inside and out, and have a great time in Vegas - good luck! Cheers, Christine

  • Cleaning and Decluttering to Ease Anxiety

It's springtime and the adage of spring cleaning is one I can support! I find that taking the time to tidy up my spaces to be quite therapeutic. Being in a clean, organized space helps stabilize my mood and boosts my productivity. Spring cleaning definitely benefits more than my cabinets and windows! Decluttering your physical space can have a positive impact on your mental health and well-being too. By getting rid of items you no longer need or use, you can create a sense of organization and calm in your home. This can lead to reduced stress and anxiety, and even improved sleep quality. In addition, donating items to those in need or recycling them can help reduce waste and benefit the environment. So why not take some time this season to clean out your closets, donate to a local charity, and refresh your space? With a little bit of planning and organization, the process can be much smoother and more manageable. If starting a spring cleaning project feels overwhelming to you, here are a few tips to help you get started: 1. Start small: Choose one area to focus on, such as a closet or a single room. Breaking up the cleaning process into smaller tasks can make it feel more manageable. I like to set a timer for 15-20 minutes and accomplish one small space during that time. Yesterday I cleaned my desk in 17 minutes (after getting a little side-tracked looking through notes) and was able to have a much more productive day afterwards. 17min was all I needed! 2. Breathe deeply: Take a few deep breaths before you start cleaning to help calm your nerves and clear your mind. 3. Play calming or inspirational music: Put on your favorite tunes to help create a peaceful atmosphere while you get to it. Sometimes I find listening to a podcast to be the most inspiring to me, other times music is what I need to be productive with my cleaning. 4. Use natural cleaning products: Switch to cleaning products made with natural ingredients to avoid harsh chemicals and keep your environment healthy. *Fun Fact: All of our plant-based aromatherapy sprays can be used as surface cleaners, they contain powerful antibacterial, antimicrobial essential oils and no harmful chemicals. 5. Take breaks: Remember that you don't need to push yourself too hard. Take a few moments to stretch or look outside/step outside, to help ease any anxiety you may be feeling. Don't push yourself to do it all in one day! Organizing & cleaning can be a great way to clear out physical clutter and create a more peaceful environment - which results in a more relaxed YOU! Take it one step at a time and be kind to yourself throughout the process! 🧹🌷 xo, Christine #springcleaning #anxietyrelief #cleaningtips

  • Holistically Treating Raynaud's

HANDS They can reveal a lot - age, occupation, habits, personal style and more. Today my hands reminded me that I was stressed. Raynaud's syndrome flairs up in me when I’m stressed more than they do when I’m feeling cold. My hands, nose and toes are very cold and uncomfortably tingly this morning, which is making all tasks harder to accomplish but mostly it’s reminding me that I can’t neglect what my body is telling me - to do something about this stress! My solution was to take a few moments with my favorite spicy, essential oil body care recipes warming body oil blend, Take A Load Off. This blend has rosemary, ginger and clove essential oils to warm the skin and was originally designed to provide pain relief. Since all essential oils are mood lifters, after massaging some of this herbal oil into my cold, yellow fingers, I lifted my now warmer hands up to my nose and savored a few deep breaths. This may have been the proverbial straw that broke the proverbial camels back. I immediately felt a tinge of ease sweep across me. My mind was at a full pause - RARE - and very much appreciated. This 3 minute event even helped me smile for a few moments during a very busy day. Tips to help relieve Raynaud's symptoms: Warm your body however possible (notice my hoodie over a long sleeve T, plus a tank top underneath it all and thick pants and socks that you can’t see in these photos) Keep hands warm by rubbing them together - adding a warming oil is added bonus Place warm hands in front of your nose and take several long breaths, allowing your exhale to bounce off of your hands and back to your nose/face - definitely want to try this technique with an aromatherapy oil on your hands! Hope you are able to manage all of the stress and emotions that life presents. I consistently remind myself that my reactions are the only thing I have true control over - which helps me control my reactions better (most of the time :-) and also helps me manage my internal stress levels. Hugs, Christine Please share what works for you when managing your stress and also how you deal with Raynaud's. • Healthy Skin & Focused Mind

Why are plant-based oils so good for you? Skin loses moisture and elasticity over time, and our oils contain herbs that help hydrate and promote skin cell production. Oils also absorb into your skin quickly and smell amazing, naturally. Bonus - our oils contain pure essential oils, which promote mindfulness each time you use them. Stay in the present moment with daily use of aromatherapy. Your outermost layer of the skin, the epidermis, is your skin barrier. The skin barriers job is to protect your skin and body from the external environment. Think of your skin as a brick wall. Skin is made up of “bricks” (protein from skin cells) and “mortar” (lipids and important fats). The lipid bi-layer – aka your skin's oil – is the glue that holds the wall together. It creates skin that is strong, hydrated and soft. It holds the natural moisturizers in and keeps bacteria and environmental chemicals out. As we age the amounts of lipids decrease significantly which is why we are prone to dry skin and a weakened barrier over time. Your skin absorbs everything you apply to it which is why it's so important to take care of yourself by using pure, healthy skin care products. Our bodies receive nutrients through the foods that we eat and through what we apply to our skin. Using herbal skin care adds healthy herbs into your daily diet! Taking extra special care of your skin will also create a strong barrier to environmental toxins. Applying herbal plant-based oils to your skin regularly will help maintain healthy, glowing skin. Aromatherapy skincare also adds an element of mindful awareness to each day as the mood clarifying benefits of essential oils are noticed with each application. We never add waxes, soy, parabens, water or other fillers to Zeeta Body oils. If oils just aren't your thing or if you simply prefer the texture of lotion, you can add our body or facial oils to your unscented lotion. This will add skin nutritive herbs and oils to your lotion and also provide a daily dose of aromatherapy to your routine. The slowing down of skin regeneration begins at the age of 25. • Wellness, what does it mean to you?

This question was asked of me recently as a lead up to a wellness event that I will be presenting at. It took me a little time to consider my answer, especially since the format for my answer was a 1-minute video (you can watch my awkward video here). Summing up wellness into just one minute was the challenge. After much pondering and introspection I came up with this - wellness is a lot of habits all rolled up into a lifestyle that benefits my mental, physical and spiritual health. Bam. I was able to come up with an answer that can kind of be summed up in 1-minute, what does it truly mean? Here's the summarized version of my answer - to be able to incorporate healthy and personally satisfying events into every day of my life. This means dedicating my time wisely, because my time and my reactions are the only parts of my life that I truly have control over. Here are my top 5 daily choices to live well: Spend some time every day outdoors. Some days this includes time in the yard tending to the veggie garden and cleaning up fallen leaves. Most days this includes a walk with the dog and/or a friend. Occasionally I get out to a trail for a long hike or to the lake for a swim - this is the most luxurious and best personal reset! Eat real food. Whole fruits, grains and vegetables. Less packaged, processed food items. Eat with intention, noticing flavors, textures and appreciating each bite. Connect with other humans. In person or virtually, connection makes a huge difference in my mood and in my ability to remain positive and stay productive. Have my required ‘adulting’ tasks coordinated. Paying bills timely (thank you auto-pay), handling the laundry, the pet poop and other household and life tasks efficiently. Exercise and rest. Exercising makes me feel good. Whether lifting weights, practicing yoga, taking a pilates class or going for a long walk. Along with movement, stillness is required. Each day I set my timer for 15-25 minutes for stillness. This can show up as a short nap or a meditation session. Living a mindful life can alleviate anxiety, depression and help us feel good about ourselves. There are days when I incorporate an aromatic polishing salt scrub to my bathing routine and the scent, texture and process bring me right back to the present moment. Consider how do you choose to spend your time and live well! xo, Christine
